Wedding Fayres

Hi everyone, hope you are well on your way to organising your weddings. Today I wanted to mention - Wedding Fayres. As a top wedding photographer I gave up on attending Wedding Fayres a few years ago. Couples that I see do go to these events, but not many book the services of the people who are there. It is more of a scouting mission, or a visit to check out the venue.

Greed.
There are lots of wedding photographers out there, a small percentage are true professionals, and an even smaller percentage are master photographers, member sof either the MPA or BIPP. The wedding venues don't care how professional an exhibitor is, they are greedy and just want their money. The same goes for the glossy brochures published by the venues too. Wynyard Hall actually has a wedding photographer advertising in their magazine who has recently been found incompentent by a Middlesbrough Judge! Hence why we wont be renewing our advertising with them. How many wedding fayres have you been to where there is more than 3 particular service providers? This is just greedy venues, taking money rather than thinking about giving you a wide spread of wedding service providers. A few years ago we did a wedding fayre at Hardwick Hall - There were over 20 wedding photographers - Ridiculous. So these are the reasons we no longer exhibit at these fayres.

What do we do?
The majority of our wedding couples come to us in two main ways. We get a huge amount of enquiries from the internet and so we are expanding our online presence and adding to couples online experience. The biggest growth area is referrals. Of course we get many recommendations from previously delighted customers but now we are looking at different ways to build up these word of mouth recommendations or referrals. Being in the wedding photography business for over 27 years, we have built up fantastic relationships with other wedding related businesses. Wedding dress shops, florists, wedding venues, car hire, wedding cake makers, etc. These businesses know our reputation, have seen our work and seen us in operation at many weddings across the area. To show our faith in these people we actually reward them for recommending our services. We have simply redirected our marketing budget. The benefit to you, our clients is that should you require one of these other wedding service providers we can recommend them to you. You can be confident that they are masters of whichever service they provide - And because you approach them as a referral from us, they will usually be more open to discussing discounts. Peace of mind and saving money - how good can things be!

The Advantage of Choosing Local Wedding Photographers

There are several advantages of choosing a local wedding photographer, I will go into just a few in this blog.

The Darlington area boasts many wedding venues. In Darlington itself we have Blackwell Grange and Bannatynes. Slightly further afield is Hallgarth, Rockliffe Hall, Wallworth Castle and Redworth Hall. These are but a few, but probably the most well known. Do you think that a local wedding photographer is more likely to have intimate knowledge of these venues? Of course they are, if they have a few years of experience they will most likely have photographed weddings at most of these venues. The advantage of this local knowledge is that they will know all the nooks and crannies where you will get the best wedding photographs, whatever the weather!

Another advantage of using a local photographer is that they will live just a few miles away from the venue. Imagine a photographer who has to travel 50 or 60 miles and there is an accident on the A1? Most photographers should allow extra time incase of accidents etc, but its just another hurdle that wedding day planning could do without.

If your wedding photographer is local you should get a faster service. Letters and emails are great but nothing beats talking through your photography requirements and then your album design, face to face. Sometimes it can be difficult to describe the effect you want in an email. When designing an album we can bring the computer to you with all the designs on it and can change it in front of you, how cool is that!

Here is an advantage you almost certainly will like! I love local people, local people seem to be on the same wavelength. I often bump into past clients around town and its great to see them again. So these feelings coupled to the advantage of small amounts of travel and easy communication CAN result in discounts. For instance I photographed a wedding recently at Blackwell Grange and saved the couple money on their coverage because while they were having the meal, I went home, then returned a couple of hours later to capture the first dance.

Please consider your local wedding photographer first. I would be grateful if you would include us in your shortlist, our website is at http://www.portrait-wedding-photographers.co.uk/

Wedding Photographer in Darlington

Darlington
Darlington is a strange place! This is said from a photography point of view. In the greater scheme of things Darlington is only a small town in County Durham in the North East of the UK. However, despite its low population it does extremely well with photography studios. Darlington is even the base for the Master Photographers Association, one of the National organisations for professional photographers, the other being the BIPP, British Institute of Professional Photographers.

Wedding Photographer in Darlington
If you are due to be married in the next few years you will almost certainly be aware of the amount of "so called" wedding photographers based in and around Darlington. So can there really be that many? Well, this totally depends on what you would firstly call a professional photographer, and secondly, a wedding photographer.

Gisborough Hall Wedding
Professional?
Just think about other professionals that you come into contact with... Doctors, Dentists. Would you be happy with your doctor if they never had any meaningful qualifications, only worked on a Saturday and had only been treating patients for a couple of years. Well of course you wouldn't. Now we're not saying photographers have your life in their hands, but they do have a day of special memories. If it is important to you that your wedding day is captured forever in a professional manner, we would strongly advise you to seek out a true professional. The price you pay obviously goes up with experience and quality. But you would expect that of any professional service provider.

Wedding Photographer?
Is a photographer that takes pictures of babies all day a wedding photographer? Is a photographer who takes pictures of buildings all day a wedding photographer? Is someone who works in a camera shop, someone who studies photography a wedding photographer. While it is almost impossible to concentrate on weddings 24/7, do you think a professional who did concentrate on Weddings would be more likely to produce better results? Do you think an ENT specialist would make a better cardiac surgeon, than a cardiac surgeon? Of course not, thats why doctors and even photographers specialise.

Why portrait-wedding-photographers?
They are full time professional photographers - National award winners with the Master Photographers Association and have been taking wedding photographs since 1983. Last year in 2010, they completed 87 weddings from humble registry office bookings up to banquets at Lumley Castle, Wynyard Hall and other local wedding venues around Darlington. 7 days a week they are thinking about wedding photography, if they are not actually at a wedding, so they are Darlington wedding specialists. Photography is their passion and is their only form of employment. After 27 years in the wedding business they also have a reputation for being able to communicate with their clients, being friendly and efficient is an important part of being a wedding photographer. Oh, one last thing. Do you remember that cost scale of experience and quality means increased costs. Well at portrait wedding photographers you will be pleasantly suprised!
